These images/snapshots capture all your operating system files, all your installed programs, and all your data. If your hard drive dies, you put a new one in, and re-image it with your latest Macrium snapshot, and it's back to normal. So, if you are hit by a very bad virus, you simply restore (or re-image) the latest snapshot from Macrium, and all is as it was. When you make regular images of your hard drive, then if something goes terribly wrong, (like a virus or even if your hard drive catastrophically fails), you can just re-image the snapshot back onto your hard drive, and everything will be as it was before. Macrium Reflect Free is a software which can make "snapshots" (or images, as they call them), of your hard drive.
